x11 in Panther

I remember rumors/hype about Panther having "native support" of x11 applications. Does anyone remember this and is it true? What does native support mean? Can you run x11 apps in Aqua just by double clicking?
 
It's like installing X11 Beta 3 in Jaguar. Only much faster and probably with better integration (in the future).
