XDarwin and Linux apps

Hi there!

Today I have successfully installed The GIMP on my iMac running Mac OS X, X Darwin and OsborOSX. Wow.

Now my appetite has grown. Does anyone have a clue as to how I can install other Linux applications, f.e. WP Linux 8? I am sure there must be some way... Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I haven't figured it out yet but here is what you are looking for. At least this is what I was looking for when I had the same question as you. It took some digging.

http://gnu-darwin.sourceforge.net/
http://gnu-darwin.sourceforge.net/porting.html

Who has had success on porting? Post any program you have successfully compiled from any flavor of unix to mac osX. I would love to hear of some (graphically centered) program that is easy to port so I can get something to work. I have dinked around with Gaim but no success. I am thinking about downloading the Mozilla source just to compile it so I know what it looks like to configure and make a program.

Oh by the way, you do have the Apple developers package, right? That is a key factor.

Chris Belwinds, IF THAT IS YOUR REAL NAME, you'd need the Gnome and/or KDE libraries first; I believe WordPerfect for Linux requires one of the two.

...get Osbor OS X installed? It installs OK on my system, but when I try to run it, it first tells me that there are no themes in the themes folder, which is fine, but then says that the initialization program failed to run correctly.

I know I can download the precompiled but I was hoping that I could try so I could get SOMEthing to compile (other than my 200 line c++ code) I found that the package listing in fink (via dselect, I don't know if that makes a difference) was too restricting.

I was searching for something and found instructions on how to self update fink so I'm doing that now. Maybe I'll get more fun stuff to try :)

While I'm thinking of it, Is there a way to unpack .rpm files? maybe unpacking isn't what I'm looking for but is it possible to use them at all?

I am now trying to compile BZ Flag (http://sourceforge.net/projects/bzflag/) which I'm told is native. All the ppc files are .rpm.

Do I want ppc.rpm or just the source.tgz?
