    Bootcamp help

I have the same problem you do with Bootcamp. I don't think it has anything to do with disk space. The "Can't Move" error is because the Boot Camp assistant has to create a new partition on your drive, and where it wants to write partition data to has data in it. So, BootCamp then tries to move...

Audacity or other audio editing software

I recommend Sound Studio. It's pretty neat, and at $80 that pretty dang inexpensive for sound editing. (Comparable programs can cost around $300.) You can get it here : http://www.freeverse.com/soundstudio/ My eMac came with Sound Studio, but I haven't seen it installed on a Mac by default...

Can I Get Bootcamp Installed At the MAc Store???

I have the exact same problem you're having. I was unable to figure out too. My guess is that a service that is currently running exsists in a location on the drive that the Boot Camp partitioner wants to move. (Since the service is running, and probably has a lock on the file, the...

    installing linux

If I were you, purchase a version of Mac OS X on eBay. In the meantime, do a search for Knoppix. Knoppix is a linux distro that can be booted from a CD so you don't actually have to install it on your Apple at all to use it.

    Logic Board

Essentially, you just take a long screw out of the bottom of the case, pop off the cover, and then there is a motherboard "tray" that the MB, hard drive, and CDROM drive are mounted to. Take out the 2 screws holding the tray to the main case, disconnect all the cables running to the tray, and...

iDVD - What type of DVD?

I've always had great luck with Verbatim, and Imation. In my Macs I've always had trouble with Memorex. I'd stay away from them if I were you. I've also had trouble with TDK before. Fuji seemed to work well. I've never tried Sony media.

MS Publisher Replacement or Help with Pages

I think you can do the same thing with Microsoft Word. (Didn't Microsoft get rid of Publisher now that Word handles most of it's functionality?) You're probably going to want to pick up MS Office for Mac, which comes wit Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.

    Macbook - Running Hot

Apple laptops have always run kinda hot. They put a lot of emphasis on thinness and that makes cooling harder. The G4 12" PowerBooks got pretty hit too, but that was normal because the aluminum case actually helped cool the machine. (Almost like the case acted like a giant heat sink.)

    Aspect Ratio Correction.

Do the games have a widescreen resolution option? Keep in mind that resolutions like 1024x768 are a 4:3 aspect ratio. The 16:9 resolution in this case needs to be 1360x768. (The horizonal resolution needs to be higher in a 16:9 aspect ratio.)

You must go to the Apple site and buy the new iSpray. It's a USB powered bug sprayer. ;-)

Cisco VPN Client unreliable on Intel Mac

I've got the Cisco VPN client on my MacBook and it runs fine for me. What version are you using? I'm using 4.9.0.0 (0050). (It's the newest Universal.) I put it on my website for you : http://www.pressleypress.com/files/

    Macbook - Running Hot

Yeah, the MacBooks do get hot. Make sure you install the MacBook firmware upgrade. It makes the fans run more efficiently, and therefore your MacBook stays cooler. (It should appear when you run "Software Update" or you can get it from the Apple support website.)

MacBook Pro just loses power after a min

The plain MacBooks have a problem known as the RSD issue. (Random ShutDown.) The MacBooks would just randomly power off. Apple has been replacing the logic boards to fix this problem. I don't know if your issue is the same thing, but I wold definitely contact Apple Care, or take your MacBook Pro...

    Help me choose a Mac.

If you're a hardcore gamer, I'd recommend the Mac Pro or the MacBook Pro. It really comes down to whether you want your gaming to be mobile or not. The video cards in the iMac are a lot better than they used to be, and it's the same for the MacBooks, but they're still not up to hardcore gamer...

    Permissions Changed, Disks unavailable

You could try repairing the permissions by booting from the diagnostics disc provided with your Mac. (Grasping at straws here.) If all you care about is recovering the files, and not necessarily setting the permissions correctly, you could always run a "sudo chmod -R 777" from a terminal. The...

    macbook with Core 2 Duo?

I would not be suprised to see a Core 2 Duo MacBook by Q4 2006 or Q1 2007. I have a MacBook and love it. (Except for that whole random shut down problem that I had to get fixed.) NixGeek, only a sampling of the G4 Apple laptops had battery problems. (Bad batch of Sony batteries.)
