I don't have TV. I occasionally watch it when visiting my parents (I somtimes need it for studies, watching videos and the such). I listen to radio all day: it wakes me up, I eat with it, I listen to it at night. I listen to radio at least 2 hours a day, mainly France Info and France Culture...

MPlayer is free too. VLC is free too. Both are opensource projects (well, VLC is to a certain extent), and both read moreorless ASF and WM data. 'Moreorless' because this format is so sh!tty that you will still bump on a few weirdly encoded files.
