    Brainstorming Rendezvous...

I have been thinking a bit about Rendezvous lately. I am coming to the conclusion that this is potentially the coolest thing Apple has done in...well...in a LONG time. Cool on several levels...simplicity of it...the "standard-ness" of it...cool. But...now it is time to begin...

If *U* were the boss... How would *U* run Apple...

Huh? Where have you read/heard/seen this? As far as I know, this is simply not true. Apple and Microsoft currently do not have any (public) agreements where $ is changing hands. At this point MS is an ISV for the Macintosh platform. And they're (Microsoft) making pretty decent money for it...

If *U* were the boss... How would *U* run Apple...

Not at all. First of all, everyone ASSUMES that Apple can "just lower prices" without there being OTHER (negative) consequences. They also ASSUME that PRICE is the primary inhibitor to more people buying Apple products. These are not NECESSARILY safe assumptions in either case. Secondly...

If *U* were the boss... How would *U* run Apple...

And you would likely begin bleeding money immediately too. And you'd likely get sued for false advertising too. I believe Apple is already doing this. What would be the point of this? Can't you download a trial version of Acrobat from Adobe? All you do here is save the download...

    A vote of confidence?

No problem dude. Worth it just to hear rumors of a new Larry-boy (oops) software venture. Would be interested in hearing more (if there is more). Though, truthfully...the second time around for a lot of these guys is usually a failure. Often the first time was a "right place, right time" kind of...

    A vote of confidence?

Perhaps. But, Old Larry is worth several billion dollars. I doubt 70,000 shares of APPL is going to make much of an impact on his "financial interests." But, maybe Larry knows something we don't. Well, I'm sure Larry knows something we don't. Whether that's useful information or not is...

No. Apple is Sony. Dell is Wal-Mart.

Will Apple (circa 2010) be a "computer" company any more?

This is good point. However I think the Apple of today is bit more conservative in that regard. They are being run more as a business. Back when the Mac first changed the world, Apple seemed to be more of a "cause". I don't see this quite as much today. Though there is a bit of it in their DNA I...

PowerBook's new PC rival--designed by Porsche

I just looked at the thing. It's a PowerBook for goodness sake. It took someone 2 years and Porche Design to copy the PowerBook? Geez. These guys are dumber that I suspected. Just as Apple is (probably) planning to move forward with something else. What I especially like is the sexy...

    The Good and Bad

Apple (currently) has about $4B (or so) in CASH. They have an approximate market capitalization of $6B (or so). Shoot, they could take themselves private if they wanted to. I doubt they would. But stuff like that has happened before. Levi Strauss did it several years ago and the company...

Will Apple (circa 2010) be a "computer" company any more?

I have been thinking a bit about this lately. I've tried to figure out where Apple is going (in a larger picture sense of the word, not so much when is the G5 coming out). I presume (and hope) that Apple's leadership has though carefully about long term company strategy (as well as short-term...

    Michael Dell...

Perhaps. But that is not what the question/answer were about. Again. I credit Dell where credit is due. Perhaps also true. But Dell has not created any of these technologies. Dell assembles machines, albiet very efficiently and effectively. Ironic in this is that Apple appears to...

    Michael Dell...

I actually agree with this. I also think that Microsoft has much to say in terms of marketing innovation (and yes MS has some technological innovation to take credit for too). However, the question in the interview (and Dell's answer as well) was oriented around technological innovation, not...

I guess I've only noticed this "pixelated" look when running inside of iMovie. Once I drop it to tape, it looks great.

    imovie 3?

Crappy title quality? I've used iMovie on 3-4 projects and found the title quality to be excellent! Can you explain further?
