    New to OSX...a few questions

i dont have any blank dvds to test it out, but just use handbrake to convert the dvds into mp4's and burn them in idvd. It might not be an exact copy but it will be good enough. if the mp4's when converted to mp2's which are large you might need dual layer dvd burner but i havnt tried it.

Will the future software be still working for G5?

You will be fine if you get an imac g5. There's a ton of PowerPC software already, and when developers get their software ready for intel, you can rest assured the software will still run great on a g5. I'm still trying to penetrate the mac software market, and it wouldn't benefit me or any...

    Having trouble installing AIM

I downloaded the bin and all that comes up is the AIM installer. But you dont want that AIM client, AOL's Instant Messenger for Mac OS X sucks. There are plenty of third party AIM clients that work a lot better than AIM. I suggest Adium.

we can breath easier about intel macs

just out of craziness, the only reason i like the new intel logo is because it is slick and now they are helping apple out. If microsoft created a new logo and slogan we wouldnt be so quick to praise it. has anybody seen those amd demonstration videos (dual duel), ibm is working on 22nm...
