    Computer Names

My machine was named VeggieMac back in its OS 9 days, but I renamed it Gibralter once os x came out... (it seemed fitting) I also have my os 9 partition, Janice, and two file drives... Ass Jack and Stockyard (stockyard is where I keep my type and stock images). Before it died, my PC was...

    Band Logo

This may sound bitchy, but only because I'm slipping into pretentious art-crit mode :) Take it with a grain of salt... I'm confused by the choice to use so many different fonts... the O's scale just seems odd, especially when it's the 'exception' to the rest of the letters... I would pick one...

    LCD resolutions: Calling experts

Macs have (typically) been 96dpi for screens... haven't they? It's all academic in the long run anyhow... the only really good way to proof is through a hardcopy.

EscapePod released! (Ambrosia software unsupported utility)

w00t! The words I have to describe the sheer extent to which Ambrosia Software rocks can't be broadcast on primetime network TV... The MPAA has given my description thereof a rating of R for strong language and sexual content... As soon as the dough starts rolling in... I'm buying every...

    Dual mon

Not always... games require most of the display adapter/computer's attention. The only benefit is desktop real estate. If you're asking this question... you don't need this, so don't worry about it. The only other thing is the 'ooh aah' factor of it.

    well... do you prefer 1280x1024 or 2560 x 1024?

    Congrats to Ulrik!

Ed- you -might- want to try raising a few plecostomus in your pond... they grow quite large and can take care of a lot of algae... they like the water to be about 74° though...

    Magic: The Gathering

Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!! Step away from the deck! Maybe it's just too much stigma from the people I've seen play it... but I've seen naught but wretched filth come from the game... I tried playing it once or twice... but the learning curve was too steep and it wasn't any fun.

    Scanning under OS X

just checkout vuescan's site... they support a lot of decent/cheap umax scanners, including my Astra 3400 (which was $100 awhile ago...) But umax's officials drivers/software sucks many various animal anatomy... so I'd go for something from epson, if you can find it cheap enough...

Possible to use my PC voodoo3 in a mac?

pci cards needs specific drivers/firmware to function with mac/pc... Firmware is the reason my soundblaster live! value doesn't work in my G4... Some older ATI cards allowed you to flash the firmware to either mac or pc, depending on your preference/needs. I don't know how true this is...

    A bit disturbing (mac.com mail)

I think it's wholly possible that Apple is trying to implement a 'smart' spam filter that blacklists addresses or servers that start sending what might appear to be spam.... IE the same message to many addresses in quick succession... I would imagine that Apple is working on fine tuning this...

It's all about Vuescan... I'm wholly of the opinion that apple should appropriate vuescan a la Soundjam (or whatever audio program was iTunes)

    coreaudio is dead!

It's a time limited beta demo... not the beta test. It's floating around right now, and it's not that impressive. Very limited in terms of import/export functions... and you MUST restart after installing. After you do restard, it's still not that impressive. Performance is mediocre (but it...

TiBookers who want Quartz Extreme, unite! (Other unsupported ones, too!)

Was the radeon mobility even available when you bought your powerbook? I'm not saying your predicament doesn't suck, but your hardware is far from obsolete... you're only not going to be able to offload the considerable load of quartz onto your considerably less able ATI Rage chip...

    A cool FCP transition.

I've encountered very few morphing utilities... Most of the time the effect is just too tacky so there isn't a really high demand for it in the 2D pro graphics realm. 3D ends up using it a lot for more illustrative purposes (and for some tacky animations :) The tough thing about...
