Really stupid and shamefull question. ASP on OSXS?

The only way I know how to run ASP scripts on Apache servers is how we do it on Solaris. Install mod_pearl on Apache and use this link: http://search.cpan.org/author/CHAMAS/Apache-ASP-2.37/ASP.pm I believe this is what you are looking for although I haven't seen a lot of Apache and...

New IBM Desktop Computer PowerPC Chip

Seems deja vu all over again. IBM did the same thing with the 750FX last year. Show their work off in a couple of forums last October to November time frame, then in June we had new iBooks. What do you want to bet this thing shows up in XServes first. They aren't usually needed to run canned...

    Which PDA?

I looked a lot. Handsprings, Palms, Sonys, IBMs. I settled on the Sony PEG-T665C after I had a Palm IIIxe - big step up. Besides the hi-res screen and the faster processor the thing that swung me was the power supply for recharging could be connected separately from the cradle. It does have a...

    Sony PDA

Some Sony's work directly with Palm Desktop 4.0. I use a third party app called Missing Link to talk to my new Sony Clie PEG-T665C via iTunes and iPhoto. I had a Palm IIIxe, so this was a huge step up. Mounting the Memory Stick on the desktop is a plus. I had a choice when it came to buying...

Thoughts about the "slowness" of PowerPC

And so doesn't your Mac OS X. 10.1.5 runs at least twice as fast as 10.1.2. At least it does on my box. And having downloaded and used NetBSD on this same box I can tell you when it comes to the things you can't see like the networking stack, multiprocessing, and non-gui apps like Apache, its...

    Read this CNET article!

Actually, its Intel that wants Apple to switch. Apple is being woo'd big time. I believe you won't see OS X on X86 but Itanium (which can run X86 software) if it does get ported, but there is no software so there's no incentive. And a recent survey found even though the demand for an...

what do you do with your mac?

Runs my small business making white box PCs. And on a side note I use it for Web editting, video editting/creating, Photoshop (need I say more), scanning, CD Ripping to feed my Sony Clie and my CD Burner, browser evaluation, programming (java, tcl/tk, perl, c - but only for my Sony Clie)...

    Possible Processor for the future?

Might this be what Steve said about keeping options open ? If they make it with the .065 design rules I'm hearing about, it'll be about the size of the Xeon. What IBM likes about this process is they can turn off processors not being used. And when you call up a serious program like...

Hmmm, Apple hasn't made a .3 release in the last three OSes. I'd go for .5.

I'M DESPERATE!!! Hard drive won't mount

I know this is going to sound crazy but plug the drive into the 6220. If the 6220 has an IDE CD-ROM use that cable instead. Also before you try this, did you hold down the apple-option-p-r keys and reset the CUDA switch ?

Get the PCI carrier for the Lucent (now Agilent ?) Orinoco Silver PC Card and the card itself.

I'M DESPERATE!!! Hard drive won't mount

CS means its position on the drive cable, last one on the cable is the slave. With the DS jumper on the 20 GByte can you plug it in place of the CD-ROM (ie. take the drive cable off of the CD-ROM and plug it into the 20 GByte)? Sounds like something is wrong with the cable. Also make sure the...

I'M DESPERATE!!! Hard drive won't mount

Woah. If you want the 1 GByte drive as a slave you have to pull both jumpers on DS and SP. If you want it as a master in a two drive system both DS and SP have to be jumpered. Is there a MA on the 20 GByte or just DS and SP? If there is a MA pull the DS (stands for Drive, Single) and put it...

why doesn't apple just use the power4 ?

I wouldn't say ever. The main reason they are so expensive is they take up too much room on the wafer. Rumor has it, not on any rumor site, they are switching the manufacture to .13 and on bigger wafers. Henceforth it would be cheaper. The server design is because of the surrounding chipsets...

What if Windows run on Mac natively?

Walmart stopped selling the boxes they made using Lindows because of the technical problems with some programs were insurmountable. That and the fact that the Windows calls had to be run at the root level. And of course Walmart shipped the boxes with no root level password. And Apple probably...

why doesn't apple just use the power4 ?

Here are the hard cold stone facts about the Power4: It's a 64-bit processor. maximum speed is 1.3 GHz on-chip L1 cache is 64KBytes per processor on-chip L2 cache is 1.5 MBytes per processor off-chip L3 cache - up to 32 MBytes (shared)- normally 4 IBM makes the chip with two full...

DID you subscribe to .Mac ?

 Yep. Had to. 100 MBytes of HD space for the web site was what convinced me. Needed it for the girls, Oriskany Softball and to get 100 MBytes of HD space from my ISP would have meant much, much more than $100/year. Road Runner only gives you 5 MBytes of HD space for a web site so...

    Pinging myself doesn't work

Usually with DHCP, everything is already set and your computer should have had the basics set such as IP addressing, netmask, DNS services, gateway, etc. Let's start with the basics. Can you ping the DNS server ? or for that matter any local service such as the pop mail server ? Here's an...

    Pinging myself doesn't work

How come the localhost is not resolving to the domain as well ? Usually the PING command will return PING localhost.whatever.domain. Do you have the domain configured correctly and is the netmask the same as the domain you are in ? Lots of things to check here like if you are getting DHCP or...

    X as nfs-server

"3. in MacOS X, I saw a setting in the Login System Preference applet that specified which authentication scheme to use - it was Kerberos. I assume that this allows you to add/remove/change authentication schemes for the system. Are there any other ones available right now? For example, could I...
