    cube and cinema display 23"

If you have video and then lose it, could it be because the previously-attached monitor was set to a resolution that the Cinema Display doesn't support? Or could it be the native resolution of that HUGE display simply isn't supported by the ATI card? There are preferences you can reset /...

    ADB Wacom Tablet

I hope we can get something together, Adam. We can only pity poor Wacom, which is too shortsighted to appreciate the value of its longtime cheapskate customers.

command line history - cursor keys?

Command-history has to be explicitly implemented in the given program for it to work. Sometimes all you need to do is rebuild the program using a configure option like "--ncurses-support" (or something like it) since the "curses" libraries are used to handle histories. Check the configure...

    Sound Cards

I have the M-Audio Delta 4 and it works great. It's a PCI card with 4 1/4" ins and 4 1/4" outs, they have had Mac OS X drivers for over a year and a half, and they're very stable. There might be an advantage in getting a USB or Firewire mixer instead, since they don't use up a slot, and some of...

    Airport Card Questions

PCMCIA cards certainly exist that support the 802.11g protocol. On Apple machines, however, no backwards-compatible Airport card is forthcoming. Theoretically a 3rd party could make an Airport Extreme card for older machines. Dr. Bott is the most likely vendor to be investigating this...

    ADB Wacom Tablet

You're in luck, strobe! The Wacom protocols are documented in the Developer section of Wacom's web site. Not only that, but... I have fully implemented the Wacom UD protocol in a REALbasic application that reads a serial Wacom tablet, dynamically displays the state in a window, and allows you...

OSX 10.1.5: can't enter admin pwd in Installer.app

Time to reinstall the OS from 10.1 onward before more funky things happen. SMall corruptions can snowball into larger ones. Don't forget to run Disk Utility and repair privileges (if available from 10.1) and the disk. When you (eventually) upgrade to Jaguar you will find things much stabler.

    Apache httpd Log File...interesting...

This is fun too: tail -f /var/log/httpd/access_log ...Whenever the file changes you see the new lines in real time. CTRL-C gets you out.

New X11 for Mac OS X and KDE

Fink recommends using the CVS package install method under Jaguar, and last time I checked the number of "unstable" packages had dwindled down to nothing. If you haven't already done so you should try reinstalling Fink from scratch with the CVS method, as described on their site. First to...

How many of you are using Safari?

Safari is fast and simple and renders 95% of the pages I've visited perfectly. I like it. When it can load self-signed certificates automatically I'll like it even more!

SoundOn Fixes Volume Key & Sound Effects Lag!

Excellent! I always wondered why my G4's external speakers would occasionally "pop" before playing an alert sound as if they were just coming on. They were!

    PHP form ....

Yes indeed, you can't print any content - including whitespace - before a header(). Make sure there's nothing before the first <? in your script. This is documented quite clearly.

    Decided to ditch frames

SSI does not rely on PHP or ASP, it is a function of the web server, in this case Apache. However web-scripting languages do have their own "include" functionality.
