Tiger Premiere Party at the Apple Stores

I'm planning on going to the Apple Store in Short Hills. It's a bigger store than the one in Menlo Park. Although, I could always swing by the Menlo Park store on my way home! :D Maybe I'll run into you ...

Help - Canon digital camera software

You could use Image Capture (comes with Mac OS X) to transfer images from your camera to your Mac. It's in your Applications folder. As a matter of fact, that's what starts up iPhoto when you connect your camera. Image Capture will let you import either all your images, or only some of them...

Sure, I guess. I've never done it before, but I don't think it would be too difficult. Thanks. Marc

    Powerbook heat dissipation question

They recommend using the PowerBook on a flat surface (like a table) as opposed to your lap or a pillow so that air can circulate underneath. The reason the case feels warm is because aluminum is an excellent conductor of heat; essentially the case is one big heat sink. If you're real concerned...

    Banned words?

I don't think it's the word "forum as I just noticed another post with that word in the title. More than likely the problem is the forward slash "/", as that is a path delimiter in Mac OS X (and unix, Linux, ect). Marc

PowerBook sounds like a plane when moved about!

If this is one of the new PowerBooks (the ones with the two finger scroll and Sudden Motion Sensor) it could be that the Sudden Motion Sensor is detecting the tilt and parking the hard drive heads. This was designed to protect the hard drive in the event of a fall. Regards, Marc

For Sale: Brenthaven Titanium 15" case

This case is custom made for a Powerbook Titanium G4, and is in great shape. I bought it on EBay, not realizing it was made for a Titanium. As a result, my aluminum Powerbook is a tad snug; that's why I want to sell it. It's in great shape; no rips or tears. It's in a non-smoking home. Ask...

iMovie: importing and exporting DV clips

Hi Eric, You can do one of two things: (By the way, these instructions are based on iMovie 05) 1) Select a clip and click on Edit ..Copy, then create a new project and paste it in, or 2) A better way would be to click on the Share menu, where you can either export for E-Mail or the web...

    For Sale: 15" 1.25GHz PowerBook

I sent my powerbook back to Apple for repair; the display had the "white spot" issue that plagued a number of 15" powerbooks. So, when I get it back it will have a brand new display! (Maybe I'll keep it ...)

    G5 1.8 sleep/shutdown issue w/Viewsonic P95f+

Hi Nate, I had this same problem with a PixelVision flat panel display. The G5 (happened with my G4 also) would start to go to sleep, then wake up right away. If I tried to shut down it wound up rebooting. What you'd probably have to do is initiate either a shutdown or sleep command, then...

Newest known Tiger build: Mac OS X 10.4.3 8F8

On a PowerBook that has a backlit keyboard, as F9 and F10 are used to control the brightness of the backlight. I guess we'll have to use modifiers (Ctl, shift, Option). Regards, Marc

    Miglia Alchemy TV PCI card

Hi, I've got a fairly new Miglia Alchemy TV PCI card for sale. I purchased it from Other World Computing sometime last year. It works fine, I just don't really use it and would rather get a Canopus ADVC300. Anyway, I've got the original box and software (the manual is on the CD, I think)...

    PowerBooks threaten male fertility?

Hey Gia, 16 hours a day glued to a PowerBook? (I admit, I can understand the attraction!) That doesn't leave much time for "having fun" now, does it? :o Regards, Marc
