For one thing, even though those macs are not that slow for G4s, they are plain ugly. The crt (which goes to 140hz) has the worst color, contrast and sharpness i have ever seen on a crt. The lcd's are nice though.

167mhz is the speed of pc2700, and pc3200 is 200mhz. (If you mean the useful double data rate clock speed is 167mhz, it's real speed is 83mhz and pc3200's useful double data rate speed is 400mhz.)

PPT's don't work well on my school's ibook G4s. Some animations are terribly slow and unrespsonsive. Obviously windows users will complain about no right click, but i don't see why not. It is the most useful thing ever invented!

650 for a mac mini 1.25ghz, and 1gb of ram is overpriced, IMO. IT should be less than 400 for the actual hardware's value. However, always go for more ram because a little boost in processor speed won't be noticeable compared to more ram. The G4 you are thinking about is much better in value...

Why would you get the cinema display?

105 is not bad for laptop memory... Too bad desktop memory is much cheaper, getting as low as 75 dollars for 1gb (2x512mb) and 90 for 1gb stick.

Ahh... the old box macs where the monitor IS the computer. IF it's a hardware problem, you can't do much since all the wiring is internal. The CRTs in those macs are known to go blurry and lose color fast, but not like your case.

I've noticed that too, and it gets highly annoying after a while. Especially on a wide screen monitor.

For 70, i guess that it won't matter much. The OS is more than the computer... nice. Still, upgrading a G4 will benefit alot. Also as the 2nd previous poster said, a slow mac cant' handle most web features such as flash and macromedia, and it's true.
