    MMkay I had to reinstall the os, time consuming, not too painful, all was preserved so no biggy there. The 512mb ram chip for my old ibook doesnt fit in my new one. >=[ guess I'll have to sell it.

    Can I start another user that will be a fresh duplicate of mine? I'm mostly conserned about the itunes music that was such a pain to get off of my sketchy usb 2.0hd. I guess i can just drag and drop everything into the shared folders?

    Wel, its working, its faster, its nicer. But I have one problem. I attempted to pug in a usb2.0 device while running software update, the kernel panicked and I had to shut down. Now I cannot change brightness or volume via keyboard and theres no icons when i drag things out of folders...

    try popping it in then opening disk utility... that seems to solve a similar problem i have when using other peoples flashdrives.

    holy jeebus my hardrive is breaking off

    Im having a bad feeling it was VPC running windows 2k. I got an erroneous startup from windows as it tried to hump my hfs+ harddrive. Im scared to turn my ibook off. Hrrm, the HD is loose inside my ibook. I feel that when I move the ibook the HD scrapes against it, like a frisbee.

    I tried to copy it as a folder onto the hd directly: "The finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "ending.xa" could not be read or written. (error code -36)" I guess the disk is scratched or something. It doesnt look particulalry bad. Why can dragon burn copy it fine then?

    it doesnt matter... because the logic board on my ibook just died.... yup it has to be replaced every four months. Which means this mac has nothing to give. I might end up buying a damned pc because i cant afford a mac. I may end up with a low end dell desktop as a replacement.
