It seems that you can do time-jumps with Apple DVD player. Its under the DVDplayer menu that has no name, only a script icon. "Show wide info" shows the user the current time and "go to time" allows you to type in a time and jump right to it.

In DVDplayer allow a user to "jump" to a specific time in the DVD, like HH:MM:SS. DVDs are being released that have only one chapter for the whole movie, for instance, "Mulholland Drive". If the software player crashes two hours into the movie, the user must fast forward through two...

Turn off that really annoying beep!

Does this fix apply to the system beep that occurs when you press the delete key at the beginning of a line in the terminal shell? I find this one to be more unsettling than the volume system beep.

    10.1.4 and OmniWeb

I tried OmniWeb six months ago and was not impressed. I've used IE on OSX for 97% of my web browsing. Having seen how 10.1.4 is more stable, and being tired of the spinning color wheel in IE, I decided to try OmniWeb again, now that 4.1beta version 382 is out. Wow. I'm using it now and I...

    10.1.4 is better - a happy upgrade

Apple is making steady improvements in each release they make for OS X. I do take exception sometimes, to where they focus their development attention. I won't rehash previous criticism. A simple test to see how Apple has improved the stability of OSX in 10.1.4: This test assumes you have...

applications OS X could use that Windows has

Access may be a handy little database ( please note, its not a real relational db ) for small scale work such as personal databases, or for very small business applications that don't need much security. However, lets not forget that at the core of Apple's OSX is real BSD Unix which is...

    coin a new Apple term

I like OSX, it has a lot of potential. I like Cocoa / Objective-C. This is good technology. My new Apple-culture term that I am coining right now is "carbon-dated" Most everyone knows of the the process called "carbon-dating" which is used to identify the approximate age of fossil...
