    Should Apple buy out Microsoft?

Hmm... Buying a car company could give us the iCar, though. Think of a Smart car that goes through Apple's design machine. Sure, it'll be missing a reverse gear in version one, but I hear version two will allow you to reverse *IF* you are a MobileMe user. :P

    Should Apple buy out Microsoft?

?? Seriously: It doesn't make any sense at all. 1.) Apple doesn't consider the work of Microsoft as very valuable to their own plans. Sure, they're glad MS still makes Office for the Mac, but none of MS' projects could be considered key to Apple's future. 2.) Microsoft was allowed to go on in...

    Anti-Virus for MacPro ...

Run the LittleSnitch installer again and use it to remove LittleSnitch. You won't get rid of it simply by trashing its application frontend. However: All those popup messages are there for a _reason_: Read them and learn how to use them. If it asks you whether Safari should be able to reach the...

    Herve's Bar & Grill

I'm an absinthe man myself. So I'm pouring me some Jade PF 1901 right now. 4cl of absinthe, about 10 to 15cl of water... How wonderful a Sunday can end. :)

at the end of my rope!

He said it's called "MacBook" beneath the screen, so let's assume it's some version of the white MacBook for now. From what I understand, you're having problems with the optical drive on that older MacBook. But you've gone the wrong way 'round with the target mode! 1.) Put your MacBook Pro in...

    Slow

Hm. Did you try resetting Safari because that particular application is running slow, or was it your approach to helping the whole Mac (that's running slow) run faster? Many things can cause your Mac to run slow, maybe you can explain the symptoms a little more? Things to check: 1.) Does your...

    G3 OS problem

On older systems, holding down the x-key should also directly boot into OS X. This all won't work, though, if you accidentally hosed the OS X system from within OS 9 (entirely possible if they both utilize the same harddrive volume.

    ibook g4

Best get the retail version of Mac OS X 10.5. That DVD (can't be the version that came with a computer, needs to be the retail one!) can boot your iBook G4 and has the "Reset Passwords" option in Utilities. If you never need to reinstall OS X, you can also use the installation disc of another...

    Is Bob's Place done?

I didn't say we _should_ do it, I was merely pointing out where the flamewars are at. ;)

    Is Bob's Place done?

Hm. I'm much more content with the USA these days. I guess I've had my fill of Bush-bashing vs. ScottW in the '00s. ;) Obama's election kinda soothed that. For me. Platform wars, the old way, are over for me as well. I mean: Even if someone gets a Mac and regrets it, he can still install Windows...

    The Apple iPad...

On the iPad? Oh, yeah, they changed that with some update. Nice. (Works only with documents saved in iWork '09, though. Older documents need not apply.)

    Powermac G5 or Mac Pro

A new Mac mini wouldn't be that bad an option either, come to think of it. While you might think the Mac Pro has _that_ much more life in it, financially it won't. You might be able to afford a new Mac mini every three years. And while a newish Mac Pro might give you more processing (and...

Backup ical, Adress book, and Mail

The thing is: If you backup separate folders, you'll have to recreate your stuff by hand. If you use a cloning mechanism like Carbon Copy Cloner, or if you use Time Machine to create a complete backup, it'd be MUCH simpler to get back to where you were before a wipeout. This, in most cases...

Fresh Installing MAC OS X Tiger on MacBook Air 11

Your computer came with the USB thumbdrive with the Apple logo on it. Insert that and hold down the option key (alt) when starting up. From there, everything should become clear by reading menus, options etc. Disk Utility will let you partition or erase the "harddrive" (SSD), the installer will...

    Magic Mouse right click.

Nope. It reacts to the softest touch, usually. The only thing to keep in mind is that it only works if you _only_ have the right finger down. If the left one's still on the mouse, it won't recognize the right click properly. Not sure why, though. "Multitouch" would suggest the mouse's a bit more...

    iMail and multiple yahoo accounts

There _is_ an option to select a different account in Apple's Mail.app ... There should be a "From:" field below the "To:" and "CC:" fields, on the same line where you select your signature and your SMTP server (if more than one are configured).
