Anyone else experiencing ethernet hangs with new hardware. I have ruled out software and wiring, as well as protocols. What it is: G4 466 (2 of em) and a new iMac 400 all exhibit cyclical hangs - ie. any network activity slows to a crawl for 10 second, then back to normal for five minutes...

I have a beige G3 with an Asante PCI ethernet card (the built-in was trashed when someone jerked out the cable). OsX hangs at startup when trying to initialize the network. This only happens when the card is enabled in the system prefs panel. Any ideas?

Hmm... So I've set my iBook up and it works on Ethernet. I have a static IP and everything. Now I go home and want to use my internal modem. PPP connects fine - but the computer does not *USE* the PPP connection. To what do I have to set the networking control pane so it works? Fryke.
