I've recently bought a Macbook and have tried connecting to my LG HDTV. I previously connected a normal PC laptop using a VGA (at computuer) to DVI connection (on TV). I bought the macbook mini-DVI to vga connection to connect to the end of the existing cable. So...from laptop-tv connections...

I know this must be simple, but I have never done it. My DVD player broke and I thought I could watch a movie on my TV using my MacBook. I have a miniDVI-VGA cable and a VGA extension to my TV, but I don't get a picture on the TV, just the MacBook.
