Tree view may be the best view when you have Windows or Linux, but not when you have OS X and can do Columns!!

I believe I remember someone asking about making the Finder do exactly this in aother thread. Usually, one wouldn't want this either because it's to "Windows"-ish or because the Finder has similar ways of doing the same thing, but for users fresh from switching to Windows, this might be an easy way for them to transition.

Again, I agree with all of you that the Finder doesn't lend itself well to this because it's hierarchical in nature, but it's an option some might desire.
