Apple Hardware Test

When attempting to run the Apple Hardware Test CD
the disk open's up the "open firmware" screen and wil not continue to
run the test's,any help gratefully received.
(I am holding down the "C" key when loading the CD)

Hold down "alt" / "option" key when starting up the Mac, and hten select the AHT.

Have any idea what keys to enter to select the AHT? I need to run this on my PowerBook and I can barely see anything on the display and nothing is showing up on my external monitor.
