i'm looking to get some ram for my new iMac (whenever i actually get it is another story...) and was wondering what the best deal is for a 512mb stick of ram?

as i've never really messed with the new iMacs, i dont know a lot about the type of ram the use.... is it true that they take laptop ram?

hope someone can help me out here ... :D

I bought 3 sticks of 512MB from MemoryToGo. They were cheap and compatible and never had a problem. beware of Coast2Coast Memory, some of there RAM appears to not work too well. Kernel panics and lockups when using there 512MB sticks. My nephew and a friend are also having problems even though the memory claimed to be compatible.

which brands are most compatible w/ iMac flat panels?

i'm assuming that crucial is probablly one of the best, at least from my PC experience.

I have Crucial ram (512mb) in my iMac flat-panel and it works fine. Their prices are pretty reasonable too onfe you factor in their free shipping (fast too, I got my last order in a day).

I have heard that Crucial (actually Micron) is Apple's OEM memory supplier but I can't confirm it.

Personally I wouldn't go anywhere else.
