brackets on my ibook g4

Hello,

I bought myself an iBook G4 for school work, and more specificly for programming purpose. I've used linux for a while and read good stuff about Mac so I decided to give it a go, hooray for my first Mac computer.

For programming there are a few characters I need a lot: [ \ ] { }
But I can't find them anywhere on my keyboard, and that's a big problem.

I found two of them I could type already.
ALT + ( = {
ALT + ) = }

But where can I find the other three ? If there is no key combination, is it possible to create one yourself ?

Otherwise I'll have to go tell my sponsors (aka mom) we did a bad investment.

If you wonder how I got these characters in the post, I copy/pasted 'em from my character map ;)

Thanks a lot for your help.

Dieter

No it doesn't, that's really weird. I just queried google images for 'ibook G4 keyboard' and come with loads of pics of the same keybaord as you showed me. But mine is a bit different, not much. Don't have those buttons I need for one.

Keyboard layout is belgian.

Ah, I just noticed yours is querty, while I have an azerty one.
This would be my keyboard

I have a danish keyboard (which is qwerty) my keys are as follows:
( & ) = SHIFT + 8 & SHIFT + 9
[ & ] = ALT + 8 & ALT + 9
{ & } = ALT + SHIFT + 8 & ALT + SHIFT + 9
/ = SHIFT + 7
\ = ALT + SHIFT + 7

just remebred that if you go to system pref. -> international. Turn on "show input menu" and add "keyboard viewer".
Choose that in the input menu and if you press the modifier keys it will show what character you will get

Awesome, I found them all with your tips :D

() are on the keyboard so no combination needed.

{ = ALT + (
} = ALT + )
[ = ALT + SHIFT + (
] = ALT + SHIFT + )
\ = ALT + SHIFT + :

The only thing left now is getting used to them to type them at top programming speed :p

Thanks a lot both of you.
