what do i do

Need more info!
what model Mac do you have?
what version of Mac OS are you using?
If you click on the Burning tab in iTunes preferences, what do you see next to CD Burner?
Are you using an internal CD RW, or an external CD burner?

i have a slot loading dv imac with os 9/10.0
and itunes(version 1.0) is running on os9.
im using an iomega external cd rw.

when i go into the preferences
it says no supported cd burners found.

ok. First off. Try and get a newer version of iTunes for OS9.

Also, try checking on www.xlr8yourmac.com to see if there is anything about your specific burner, and using "hacked" driver files to support it with iTunes..

ok, i'm digging back into brain cells i lost long ago, but i had a cube with an iomega external burner that would not burn via an early version of itunes.

i was running 9.2.2 but the problem was itunes. version 1 did not support many, if any, external burners.

let me ask you this, have you ever burned with itunes on this setup?

i think you may need to upgrade the itunes.

wait, there's more.

i vaguely remember another annoying predicament where there was a conflict between itunes, apple's built in "cd authoring", iomega's extension, and maybe even toast's extension.

i literally had to create two start-up extension lists, one for burning in itunes and one for burning anything else.

someone's archives somewhere should have something.

You say you're running OS X 10.0? Maybe that's the problem: you need to update to a later version of OS X. Panther (10.3) is out and about now, but you can find Jaguar for cheap at various stores, both online and off.

There is definitely a conflict in iTunes for OS 9 between its extensions and those of other burning programs, though oddly our G3 is able to use both Toast and iTunes burning in the same set. I'll have to look into that and get back to you.

iTunes 1.0 did not support any external CD-writers. You should be able to get iTunes 2 though, I think.
