Can I install OS 9 (DV model disc) on a beige G3

A friend just bought a Beige G3 from eBay, his first step into the Mac world. He wanted me to give him OS 9 to install, and then OS X.

However, my OS 9 Install disc says for iMac DV models only. Does it just say it for the hell of it or won't it work?

it has been my experience (as i have tried something VERY similar) that the
CD's that ship with macs arent really the same thing as buying an OS license.

unless someone knows a hack around this, i'd say borrow a copy from your
local users group or buy a full version on CD. he'd probably need that at some
point anyway...

You will have to get a full install CD. Your CD will not work.

My iMac cd works on my TiBook and vice versa. My newer iMac cd works with my grandpa's old iMac. Give it a try, might or might not work. However please buy OS X to support Apple.
