Canon ScanGear CS - cannot communicate with scanner

So I reinstalled OS X (backup & install), installed ScanGear CS drivers for my canoscan lide 30 and found out they don't work, although the same drivers worked before

this is what I get:

I can scan with VueScan, but it's only a demo version and I really like ScanGear better

I've looked at the files, all where they should be but 2 that I just can't figure out where they should be. the "Into CMPrefs" and "Into Users_Shared" folders. so if anyone knows to what folder I should put the contents of these please say so

Do a search for those folders, and place the appropriate files in their respective folders.

delete the pref file for the scanner in your home directory.

what pref file? u mean the ones that the sw installed or does X make another pref file?
