canoscan lide 30 - "cannot communicate with the scanner"

I have a canoscan lide 30 hooked onto my flat-panel iMac. it worked fine with my previous installation (same X.2.6 as now)

but I cannot seem to get the scanner to work now. followed the driver installation instructions, rebooted but I only get cannot communicate, check cable message. I can see the scanner in system profiler

any ideas what could be the problem here?

seems to be working with VueScan, so must be epson drivers problem, anyone familiar with that? (I like the import in photoshop, so I wanna use epson drivers

admins can somene move this to sw since it ain't hw prob? tnx

I had the exact same problem with that model scanner under 10.2.5. It refused to work on OS 9 or on a PC either, so I assumed it was a hardware fault and returned it to the shop for a replacement.

I know that doesn't really help you much, but it was definitely the "cannot communicate with the scanner" error.

Oh, yeah, and just double check your cables and plugs are all secure.

symphonix, it can't be the cables or hw fault since it works with different drivers (read my last post)
