display not recognized under 10.2.4

Have a G4-450DP on OSX 10.2.4 with a Radeon 8500 as main video board and Twin Turbo as second. Connected to the Radeon a Sony G520 CRT, to the Twin Turbo a Philips 150V3 LCD. The latter is not being recognized by the system and all settings are greyed out, the dsiplay only runs at 640x480. When restarting in 9.2.1 the display *is* recognized and all setting sare available.
Question 1: Is there a way to make OSX recognize the display?

Question 2: is there any solution or workaround to get at least other resolutions available?

You might try UNchecking the box that says "Show modes recommended by the display." That should enable all of the resolutions.

That's the problem: I just can choose between millions and thousands of colours; resolutions are visible in grey; no other options available, they are simply not displayed.
