Just got my lovley 17"G4 and it comes pre installed with 10.2 on. I need to erase 10.2 for a fresh install of 9.2 then put 10.2 on top of it just like it is on my 15"Ti book. Anyone know how i can do this or any alternative? Please help us if you can.
and if you do thanks

Like I already mentioned in a thread earlier i just got a 17" AU book and have realised that i cant erase the OS but is there a way i can partition the disk even though OSX is preinstalled?

It seems that this new laptop is a bit of a time consuming problem.

thanks if you can help me out.

The only way to partition is to reformat the drive (erasing the OS and anything on the disk).

Boot from the OS CD by holding the C key down. When the Installer window appears, go up to the File Menu and open the Disk Utility and use the to format the drive, then quit and install the system.

paradice,

I merged your two threads since they were talking about the same subject.

As serpicolugnu wrote above, you _can't_ install OS 9 onto your new laptop. Apple disabled its ability to boot into 9 intentionally.

You can still run OS 9 programs using Classic. I believe you just need to install OS 9 from the OS 9 installation cd.
