G4 iMac & Coffee Disaster

Looking for some feedback.
I work at a community based, non-profit arts organization. Recently, I found a G4 iMac in the basement. Turns out that it was the unfortunate recipient of a coffee disaster a while back. Yup. A spill. Hasn't worked since they say. I'm trying to spend as little money as possible to ascertain whether it can be saved or stripped down to parts.

Anybody have any suggestions, experience or feedback?

Thanks.

Was the spill just on the keyboard or over the computer itself? Also what version is the iMac? Lastly if this is for the non-profit you could take the iMac to your local Apple Specialist and see if it is at all salvageable.

Thanks.
I was told the coffee leaped into the top of the dome.
No witnesses.
Strange, but that's what they say. Sabotage perhaps.
Either way, it's a done deal.

I've attempted to start it up and nothing.
Then, I took it apart and looked inside to see the damage.
Some coffee stains on the motherboard.
Coffee stains all over the fan.
I have poured tiny amounts of 100% alcohol on it to dissolve it.
I also wiped down the non-sensitive areas.
Sorta works.

I will re-try to start i t up in a few days when everything is dry.

By the way, my wife, who works for a city agency had a similar incident with the iMac G4 17incher ad ended up paying quite a bit (close to purchase price) to have it fixed. We can't pull that off at my gig.

Peace and any other feedback is welcome.

You'll have better luck with distilled water than alcohol. Warm it up a little in the microwave or over a burner.

Water won't hurt anything.
