Help - 10 hours to re-install OSX

Hi,

i recently had problems with my iMac 17" (intel based) with isight, i have formatted the drive to mac osx extended (journeled) and its stating that it will take 10 hours 10 minutes to install, does anybody have any idea which piece of my hardware is shot so i can replace?

Very likely that 10 hours is wrongly calculated and the Mac will correct itself, as it goes on, to 1 hour or less.

I hope you used 'Archive & Install'; otherwise you will loose all you've put on the Mac. However, if you've backed up, you can re-import.
 
Thanks for the response, i suspected as much, i have been watching it install for about 4 hours and it has reduced slightly it now says i have 2 hours 53.

looks like its going on ebay as spares or repairs :)
 
Hmm mine has been behaving similar to this also so thanks for the heads up on the HDD.. i'd better get a new one before everything gets lost.
