I manage an office, and I've been trying to get them to switch to apple for their R&D work they do in the lab, there are many reasons they can use apple over MS..

anyways, they need convincing, so is it ever possible to get apple to lend us the Xserve + a couple iMac's, to prove them wrong.. They are non-believers that apple is so much better, if I could somehow get apple to lend us the hardware to show them how much better it really is, they would switch in a heartbeat., primarily right now, its because of price and will it actually do anything different, or streamline... I keep saying YES YES YES!

any suggestions for contacting apple to "try out" their stuff for a month?

Call Apple and ask

866-752-7753

I don't know if they would do this, and my guess is no. But, if it's a big company and they may have the chance on selling a lot of machines, who knows.

Would you consider renting?
Just did a google search for "Apple computer rentals", and there was a ton of hits, some dealing with your exact situation, (wanting to try out).

jb.

ok actually it had never even occured to me that renting was an option!
Where would one rent from? Apple directly, as I'm in Ontario Canada.

:) thanks for the tips though! I'll look into this further!

Tabulate the cost of maintenance (IT Support, crashes, etc.) for the PC system they are currently using and add that to the cost of that system. THEN compare that with the apple server set up and see if they are still disparate... ;)
