ibook flashing folder then boot?

I have an ibook that boots up first to the flashing folder with the question mark then quickly loads to apple screen , then into the os x. This just started happening but I've never seen it before is this a bad sign?

Open System Preferences->Startup Disk pane and make sure you highlight the drive your OS X is on, then click on the restart. This way you can tell if it works, Good Luck.

Yep! It crunches Handbrake very quickly!

is it true my macbook 2.0Ghz will only read 3gb out if I installed 4 gb ?

Yes, a couple of models could only address 3 GB of RAM. You can use MacTracker (google it) to identify your model and see all of its specs.

I slapped 2 x 2GB modules in my mid-2007 MacBook 13". 3.3GB of usable RAM is all the machine will see, due to a hardware limitation.
