iMovie!!!!!???? HELP!!!!!!!!

On my iMovie, i can't get asf, avi, or mov video files to work. It would only show up as a white screen and take 15 minutes to load to imovie. But when i convert my asf to mov with a converteri downloaded, it took like 1 hour for a 30 second video, it worked and only took like 1 minute to load on imovie??? Is there any video codec for my imovie or a really good video converter? PLEASE HELP!
 
.asf is not a movie format. It is a pointer file to a streaming Windows Media video. Download and install the Flip4Mac codec. .avi is not a specific video format. It is a container format which may contain video and audio tracks from any of several codec developers. Download and install the freeware Perian codec. I also strongly recommend that you download and install the official DivX codec. .mov is the standard QuickTime movie container. If your .mov videos are not loading into iMovie properly, then your camcorder may be using a proprietary codec. Make sure that you have installed the software that shipped with the camcorder.
 
thanks. But when i convert it mpeg stream clip. It leaves a watermark with Flip4Mac? Is there any way around it?
