Mac OS X and MS Windows NT Proxy Server

Our network uses a Windows NT 4 proxy server as a gateway to the internet. I have just connected an iMac to it so that the internet can be accessed from it.

i have put the proxy settings into the Network preferences panel.

When I open Internet Explorer it asks me for a network domain password, so I give it a valid username and password, but explorer just display "Error: Access is Denied" no matter what web page I try and go to.

Can anyone help me?

I hope this helps...I have experience with proxy servers and the only way I have been able to go out to the internet after configuring the proxy server and port, is to use a different browser such as netscape or Safari. I am not sure why this works...but it does
