mail.app unread status - not from mailserver?

I recently switched from Eudora to Mail.app for my email, both of which I used in POP mode. I also use a web service (www.mail2web.com) to check email when I am away from home.

When I used Eudora, the downloaded mail would only be flagged as "unread" if I hadn't read it while it was on the server. However, Mail.app indicates all new downloads as "unread".

Is there any way to make Mail.app check the read status on the server, or does anyone know if the Jaguar update to Maill.app will do this?

Geez, I hate when other people do this, but it's been nearly six months, so *bump*. (I hate myself now.)
