Music folder cant be found - iTunes and Tiger??

I backed up my music folder in Panther before a clean install of Tiger. I installed Tiger and then brought over my music folder from the external and put it in my home directory. Open iTunes and it is empty. What am I doing wrong that it wont find my music?
 
go to File, then Add to Library, and choose the iTunes music directory... it should works..
 
Actually, it would be better to get rid of the songs in your home folder again and let iTunes import them from the backup. This way, it'll copy them to the right location and will _know_ that it has them. If you add them from the home folder, strange things might happen (importing = copying for iTunes).
