My Mac doesn't read my Iomega drive

I am on a Mac OS X processor 2.8 Core 17 with 16 GB of memory at 1067 MHZ DDR3
I bought today an Iomega drive to backup my files.
When I connected the external drive for the first time the Mac asked if I wanted to use it as Back up disk. I said no.

I thought I could drag and drop the files as I usualy do on the other external drive I have been using for a long time now, but I can only read the new Iomega not write and I don't know how to change that.
I do have right clicked but nothing so far.

It has a NT file system on it, designed for MS windows.
Go into Disk Utility and partition and format the drive for Apple file system and all will be good.

Thank you JBarley for your tip.

It was very east indeed... :)

I would have lost hours looking for such a simple procedure... and get nervous :)

You will also probably want to repartition it to GUID instead of Master Boot Record. Otherwise you may have some strange problems, especially if you want to use Time Machine.

Well DJackmac, in fact I am already using Time Machine for automatic back-up instead of making simple and manual backups from my documents, photos, whatever.
It was an unusual / unpratical procedure I have been doing with my now full Lacie Disk for long time.
From now on I will use the Lacie only for music, photos and cinema.

I think - correct me if I am wrong please - that making automatic back-ups all the work is done and everything is available at any time.

Thank you for your advice and concern.
Thumbs up !
A Moon shot for a change LOL
