No luck finding startup disk...Any advise?

Vard

Looking for progress
OK.....I broke it....need help.

I installed a program through classic last night and then tried to run
it. Got an error and thought maybe I would try running it in OS 9.
Went to system preferences and selected the OS 9 system folder and
then tried to restart.

I noticed something was goofy when everything closed and the computer just
hung on the desktop picture....no spinning progress thing, just my
background picture. So I waited and then after a while shut it down
with the power button. When it tried to restart I got the question
mark ? folder....which I am pretty sure means it just can't find the
startup disk.

So what do I do from here? I tried the PRAM, holding X and using my
Jaguar install CD to see if there was anything there....no help.

So whatever you can suggest would be very helpful.

Thanks everyone,
Eddie

Have you tried holding down the option key at startup to see the available startup disks?

Also, from the Jaguar install CD you can run Disk Utility and see if there are any issues with your drive.

Hey Slur, thanks for the reply...

Yeah....tried that....and literally everthing else that I could think of or find on the interent or in one of the books I have....nothing worked.

It's fixed now though. Yesturday, just before I was about to install Jag to my second harddrive to see if I could use that to navigate around and figure it out, I thought I would check the pile of disks that came with the computer. In that pile I found an OS 9 install disk. So I thought, what the heck. Put that in, it started of the CD and I was able to get into the OS 9 control panels to set my startup disks again....so all seems to be working fine now.

Anyway, I was really blown away by how NOTHING else worked. Hmmm.....still don't have any idea why that was, but I am just glad to be back up and running.

Thanks again,
Eddie
