I'm working with my girlfriend's computer, and it has one peculiar, annoying habit of dropping our wireless network from time to time. It is a 14" iBook G4 1.33GHz with 512Mb RAM. Also from time to time, it likes to switch to our neighbor's network without warning or prompt.
I started to investigate, and found more peculiar clues. I figured it probably had something to do with the Preferred Networks list in the System Preferences pane, but when I switched from "Automatic" to "Preferred Networks" no list of networks appeared. in fact even when I did get the box (which normally contains the list) to appear, there were no networks listed. The + button is dead (it clicks, but does nothing), the - button is grayed, and even stranger, the "Options..." button at the bottom of the pane is dead. Nothing else on the computer seems to be amiss. Any thoughts on what's going on / a cure?
Thanks,
-Eric!
