I have a Intel MacPro, sometimes when I restart I just get a grey screen, and If I try a few times it will boot up, but it takes a long time. Can anyone shed light on this. Thanks

well you can try a few things. Do the following accordingly:
1. Shut it down, Turn it on then immediately press option+command+R+P wait for the 3rd chime(startup sound or Gong)
2. after the 3rd gong immediately press Shift. If you See the Apple and the spinning gear you can let go of shift.
3. Once you get the login screen you'll see safe boot. Open up disk utility from the utilities folder and run a repair disk permissions
4. delete the cache folder from /library/Cache if I remember correctly
5. Look for startup items folder and delete all the 3rd party items there
6. delete everything in login items. Simply go to apple>sys preference>account>login items

Hopefully this should sort out your problem. Post the result
