Password Vulnerability Fix Released

Looks like a fix for the screen effects password vulnerability is now available from Software Update.

Many people are reporting problems after the installation. I personally will leave it, since this vulnerability isn't an issue for me.

It fixes the problem overall, not just with screensaver password entry - if you entered about 3000 characters into any Cocoa single-line text box, then hit enter (or equivalent, per app) you could crash the app. I checked this before and after with Mail as well as screensaver, it seems to have fixed both...

The problem was just especially bad in the case of the screensaver since crashing that got you access to the desktop.
