PreferencePanes Problem..

Using 10.1.1, System Preferences doesnt load the 3rd
party preferencepanes I have such as tinkertool or windowshadeX when I'm logged in as a user!

If I log in as root they load fine. If I run System Preferences
sudo root logged in as a user they load fine. I've copied the
preferencepanes to the users preferencepanes folder as
well under /Users/USERNAME/Library/PreferencePanes
with no luck. They are also copied to the /Library/PreferencePanes where they shoud be read by all users and yet they are not.

The ONLY 3rd part panes that work are for DAVE 3.1 X.

I've checked permissions to make sure they're the same etc..
at a loss.. any suggestions???

Thank you

I have entries in

/System/Library/PreferencePanes
and
/User/name/Library/PreferencePanes
and everything works....

there is no folder in my system for /Library/PreferencePanes

?????????? sudo System Prefererence....???????????
not advised...

anyway, it shouldn't make much difference since the Security update....(means ..............................>>>>..doesn't work) anyway the application just calls the individual panes. some of which you need authorization to touch...

I have never felt the need to log into the gui as root.

Terminal is fine for that.... su root "sudo root" is redundant...
also BBEdit 6.5 allows you to edit text files in the GUI with authorization...

your problems come from logging in as root.

check entries in /private/var/root/Library
