Simple black desktop

This is slightly embarassing but is there is convenient way to make the desktop backdrop 100% black. Yes I did search several desktop websites but could not find it. Must I make my own or is there a simple way? THANKS.

find a small black square jpeg (like this one

), and use that as your desktop. either as a tile, or as a centred image, which then gives you the choice of what background cvolour you have. i never realised that this wasn't an option on Mac OS X.
