SMB users on 10.4.7

Hi

Can anyone give some best practice guidance on setting up my Mac so that my DVD player can connect to it using SMB for streaming movies and audio.

I have enabled the smb service in 'System Preferences > Sharing', and created a new user called 'dvdplayer'. Ideally, I wanted an SMB only user, not a system user - is this possible?

If I cannot have a stand alone SMB user, how can I set the OS X user 'dvdplayer' to have its home directory on an external firewire drive?

Try using Sharepoints. With it, you can choose what directories to share. I think you can create file-sharing only users with sharepoints as well.
