II have a Sony DCR-PC8E PAL mini digital camcorder which works just fine. I bought this in Florida, USA while on holiday there. Connecting the camera to my new Intel Duo Core 20" iMac doesn't allow me to import any video into iMovie'06. There is just nothing there, not even Camera Connected. I'm using a Firewire cable with the 4-pin at camera end and 6-pin into the back of my new computer.
Using the online Help menus I've tried everything such as replacing the firewire cable, stopping iMovie, restarting the camera, resetting the date etc etc. Sony USA say the camera wasn't made in the USA and is not on sale there even though I bought it there. They suggest going to the country of manufacture, help!
I'm using the latest Tiger 10.4.7 and am completely up-to-date with all system software. All other applications in the iLife suite work fine, is this just a drive problem or will this camera never work in iMovie?
