Special characters under MacOS X

I have been using the following character "#" for naming different media files in order to sort them chronologically.

Example:

file #01.psd
file #02.psd
file #03.psd

I do get quite often the following message under MacOS X, when I try to save the opened files.

" The file could not be saved because a folder named .trash already exists "

Has someone on this msg moard similar problems? It seems to be the special character "#" which causes problems under MacOS X.

In the brand of Unix that underlies OS X, the "#" character is used to "comment out" a line. In other words, the computer is instructed to ignore whatever follows the # on a line.
That's probably why it's giving you problems.
