strange system freeze

I'm in a suburb of New York, not quite either the city or country. Power is fairly consistent. This is a laptop with a charged battery, but the crashes have been occurring while plugged in.

It just happened again, and there doesn't seem to be anything in any of the logs I've looked through anywhere near the time it crashed, almost like a black hole .... :(
 
The absence of a log file may mean that the hardware failed before the software was able to record, but I'm just thinking out loud there. If you still have the warranty, I would bring it in or call AppleCare. Macs aren't supposed to crash :)
