first of all, thank you for posting me.

I tried to restore the NetInfo database as you told me, but it didn't work.
The commands weren't executed by the shell.

You wrote:

nicl -create /users/newusername home /Users/oldusername
nicl -create /users/newusername name oldusername

Are you sure, this is correct?
Can you give me an example? (my old user name is 'frank_ha' and the new one I created is 'frank')

Sorry, but this doesn't work either.

I get no prompt in the new line ...
I mean, when I press "enter" the new line should be
'localhost# "... which shows me, that the command has been executed...
but I get just a new line ...

I typed: nicl . -create /users/frank home /users/frank_ha

You are sure, that this is correct?

I thought I would have to fully reinstall it, but this saved a lot of time :D

BTW: Can you give me a hint how I can get that expert knowledge that you have ... Especially concerning terminal commands ... Any websources or book recommandations?
