When i upgrade from 10.3.9 to tiger, is there any way to pick an option to keep all my files? Just wanted to know before i actually do it. thanks!

Yes - Boot to the Tiger installer disk, and (at the screen where you choose the drive) press the Options button. Then choose the option for Archive and Install. Be sure to check the option to save the user settings and files. That's an option with the Archive and Install selection.
The only option that will result in the loss of all your files, will be the Erase and Install option.
The default is Upgrade - which is OK, and should work for your. The safest option is the Archive & Install.

After your upgrade to Tiger is complete, and you have tried everything important, and all seems to be working OK - then you can safely trash the folder on your hard drive named Previous Systems. It will have thousands of files, because the Archive and Install saves the old system, and installs a new fresh system. Once working with the new system, the old (Previous System) folder can be discarded. Don't forget to empty the trash!
