Virex Q: What is this folder?! "/sw/lib/libcrypto.0.9.6.dylib"

After installing Virex 7.2, the following folder appeared in my HD: "sw"

It looks like this: "/sw/lib/libcrypto.0.9.6.dylib"
"/sw/lib/libcurl.2.dylib"
etc.

Anyone know if I NEED to keep it??

That's a component of OpenSSL -- it's crypto library. Apparently, Virex 7.2 uses a fink-style layout for its crypto dependencies.

The built in version of OpenSSL lives here:
/usr/bin/openssl
and is version:
OpenSSL 0.9.6e 30 Jul 2002
Obviously, your new software maintains a policy of non-interference with the built-in version. This is a very good idea.

You shouldn't get rid of it, as it likely contains a necessary component. But you can hide the /sw directory tree in the Finder, if you like (as I have chosen to do):

Correct. Virex wants to use a folder called "sw" in a similar manner to Fink. So the folder in question was indeed installed by Virex, and you should keep it.
