    Wacom tablet for OS 9

For what it is worth, you would be better off finding a Wacom Intuos II USB model second-hand; short of upgrading to a faster Mac, Mac OS X and a newer version of Photoshop, which would be a very expensive update. Of course, obtaining a second-hand Wacom is a little tricky, since people tend to...

Music input from mini disks on Hi Fi

The current Macbook Pros include an audio-in minijack which supports analog and digital (toslink minijack format). That means you could take an analog audio signal (such as stereo-RCA to minijack cable) from the phono output on your hifi, or even better - if your hifi has optical audio out, you...

    iphone BS

All computer software, hardware and peripherals have "System requirements" listed on the pack. Read them carefully before getting your wallet out - it'll save you a lot of worry down the track.

Making an internal mac HD into an external PC device

Its also worth pointing out that you may not need to take your Mac apart. You can boot it while holding the T button to put it into Firewire Target Disk Mode. Then, connect a firewire cable between your Mac and another computer and the Mac will appear as an external hard drive - however if...

Camcorder with Firewire: Mini DV vs. HD

In that case, Mini-DV tape wins hands down. Firstly, Mini-DV is an uncompressed format while HDD based camcorders use MPEG compression in-camera. Secondly, Mini-DV is cheaper. Yes, it is theoretically quicker and more convenient to use a HDD based camcorder, but in real-world use the...

Best ADSL router for remote access?

It should not make any difference how your friend connects to the Internet, so in short the answer is no.

    Chaos Theory

Are we heading into another depression? I sincerely believe that it is unavoidable, at least for the USA. I doubt it could ever be as bad as the Great Depression of the 1930s. I also sincerely believe that the US government is trying everything they can to play down the very real and obvious...

    Question Regarding Adobe Photoshop CS(1)

1&2: Only the latest version of Photoshop CS3 is a Universal Binary which runs natively on Intel macs. Older versions of Photoshop will run using Rosetta emulation to emulate a PowerPC. While its true that the modern Intel Macs are significantly faster, and even in emulation mode do a fairly...

    Firefox downloads

In order for a file to be opened in another program, it must first be saved onto your computer. Firefox does this, and then asks the other program to open the file. Firefox can't simply delete the file, as there is no way for Firefox to know what the other program wants to do with it.

How to copy files from a CD onto Mac

If the disc is CD-Audio, then you can import it into iTunes. Just open iTunes, choose the CD in the source list on the left, put in whatever names you want the tracks to have, and hit Import. There are other CD-Audio importing tools available, too. If, on the other hand, it is just a data CD...

Record Audio Tapes to CDs ... ???

I'm pretty sure that if you load in the "Applications" DVD that came with your Mac, you can install GarageBand from the "Install additional components" option on that disc. I'd try popping the disc in and looking for an "additional applications" or "additional components" icon.

    New Airport Express

50 users instead of 10, and can attach USB hard drives as network attached storage. I'd still prefer the Express. It's small, cheap and very useful. I use Airtunes all the time. In fact, I'm still surprised the higher-up models of Airport still don't have Airtunes; it seems like a pretty cool...

Is there a way to save DVDs to the computer?

You can use MacTheRipper or Handbrake to rip movie files from DVDs created on your camera. You really don't need to plug the camera in at all, just take the DVD disc from your camera and load it into the DVD-Rom drive of your iBook. I've never heard of MyMOVO so I can't comment on it.

ibook problem has me troubled :/

This sounds like it could most likely be caused by a problem with your power management. First, you'll want to reset the power management unit: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449 1. If the computer is on, turn it off. 2. Reset the power manager by simultaneously...

How can I install Leopard over firewire?

You will need a suitable firewire cable, with the connectors on both ends to suit the firewire ports on your Macs. I picked one up for $3 at the local computer shop and consider it an essential bit of kit for any Mac user.
