Broadband is fast on Windows? WHY?

Is this with the MacOS X version of IE, or MacOS 9 version? The MacOS 9 version running in Classic-mode is faster than than thing they tried to pass of as a browser for OS X. And no, Carbon apps do not necessarily mean slower. I think a lot of bias comes from the fact that a lot of Carbon...

    Apple.com remembers George Harrison...

I think one could make a case that it goes with the "Think Different" slogan, as in the line "love them or hate them, you can't ignore them" from the commercial. They have used a picture of John and Yoko in their ads before, so I think it's only fitting to pay a little homage to George.

To use tabs, just go to "File->New->Navigator Tab"; use Command-T; or right-click (or click-and-hold, or control-click) on a link, and select "Open in New Tab" at the top. To close a tab, you can right-click on the tab and pick a choice, or hit the x on the right to close all of them. It's an...

    DVD Player Update is out...

Actually, Apple had a one=time licensing fee companies that went for it in time. All the other companies that didn't do that had to pay a $1 per use fee. This really isn't that big a deal price-wise, except of course companies like Compaq whined because they chose not to go for the one-time fee...

    Windows XP name

Someone mentioned on another site, after Microsoft announced the "XP" designation, how XP is the designation for an experimental plane. The planes of course lose the XP designation when they're ready for prime time.

Hey Admiral! Take a look at this!

I'm more of a soft-wrap kind of guy myself. I make an exception with Pico, just because it's convenient to use. But for the most part, I do most of my writing in TeXShop or Nedit, which can handle wrapping all by themselves. Wow. I just posted about word processors. Now I understand why...

Hey Admiral! Take a look at this!

Anyone else disturbed by the fact that AdmiralAK is averaging 51.31 posts per day at pdabuzz.com? I don't even hit the return key on my computer that many times a day, and I do all my homework on it.

    Kaleidoscope X

The really weird thing is that the Kaleidoscope website www.kaleidoscope.net does not seem to have any mention of not doing any MacOS X version. It could be because they're not updating the site anymore, but I don't think that's likely since they've posted some new schemes up. Maybe they've...

    Wanted games?

For me, the two games that I'd just plain like to see are Halo and Myth III. Fortunately, not only are both coming to the Mac, they are also most likely going to come to MacOS X (well, Myth III is, at least, and they'd be stupid to only have a MacOS 9 version of Halo). Actually, I'd also like...

    SNOOD (mac os x version)

There was a South Park version of Snood floating around a few years ago, too. The sounds got really annoying after a while, though.

    SNOOD (mac os x version)

I went and tried it after posting that message, and found it worked. It does have a problem that when I switch to another program, the screen doesn't refresh anymore. Oh well. I can wait a while.

ok what's the deal with THIS?????

This worked in my case. Turns out that because I had an named "Desktop Backgrounds" in my Library folder (referring to the real folder on another drive), I never got a "Desktop Pictures" folder. Copying my desktop folder over fixed the problem. Of course, we don't know if it fixes Solrac's...

    Convert MPEG's into MOV's?

I've noticed that too, but since I haven't messed with it much, I hoped there might me a setting to fix that.

ok what's the deal with THIS?????

This might be when MacOS X can't find the image it uses for the background, then. It probably uses one of the tile patterns. The reason I am considering this possibility is because back in MacOS X.0.0 I moved my /Library/Desktop Backgrounds/ folder to another drive to conserve space, and made...

ok what's the deal with THIS?????

This is how the background of my login screen has looked since I updated to 10.1... It actually is kind of odd that you haven't had this until now, really (unless I was having a problem to begin with). So unless anyone says otherwise, I'd say it's normal.
